Habits are an example of your brain repeating behaviour that has set a “pattern” which is being repeated over and over again.
For some people, habits can offer a degree of comfort, such a nail biting, thumb sucking and hair pulling, even if done as an adult. For others the behaviour is carried out without any conscious awareness, until noticed by others.
Children often start habitual behaviour through mimicking someone else, or as a form of self comforting if they are worried or frightened. As time goes on, usually habits formed in childhood are left behind as the person becomes a teenager and then an adult. However, some habits may still be there in adulthood, and this can cause a lot of distress and embarrassment.
Whatever the habit is, hypnotherapy can help you to release yourself from it in just one or two sessions, enabling you to move on with your life free from old outdated behaviour that no longer serves a purpose.
